<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />July 3, 1896 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Council met at Chas. S. Wheaton’s office 2:00 o’clock. <br /> <br />Present: Chas S. Wheaton, President; J.F. Lewis, Trustee; Andrew Davis, Recorder. <br /> <br />The following bill was presented and on motion allowed: <br /> <br />William Iliff, “street-work,” $60.12 <br /> <br />The following resolutions were presented and on motion adopted: <br /> <br />Resolved, that the sum of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) be appropriated in payment of the share of <br />the Village of Elk River for maintaining of free ferry across the Mississippi River (ferry known as the <br />lower ferry) for the month ending June 26, 1896. Order payable to Luther Hare. <br /> <br />Resolved, that the sum of twenty-five dollars ($25) be appropriated in payment of the share of the <br />Village of Elk River for maintaining a free ferry across the Mississippi River (known as upper ferry) <br />for the month ending July 3, 1896. Order payable to Jos. McDonald. <br /> <br />Resolved, that the sum of fifty dollars ($50) be appropriated to be expended on town roads, work to <br />be done under the supervision of J.F.
