Babcock & Sons, street lamps, $5.15 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />April 13, 1896 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Council met at Chas. S. Wheaton’s office at 2:30 o’clock. <br /> <br />Present: Chas S. Wheaton, President; Fred Hildreth; Andrew Davis. <br /> <br />A petition was presented by a committee from the town of Otsego. Said petition reads as follows: <br /> <br /> <br />Otsego, Wright Co., March 20, 1896 <br /> <br />To the Village Council of Elk River, Minn. <br /> <br />This is to certify that we the citizens of Otsego and Elk River and patrons of the Otsego ferries do <br />not favor free ferries, but a reduction. To whit: Three crossings for Twenty-Five Cents (25 cents) <br />and a statement of proceeds furnished to said Council at the end of each month and the balance of <br />the month’s wages to be paid by said Council; or the sum of Twenty-Five and 00/100 Dollars ($25) <br />to be paid by the said Council at the end of each month to be paid to the ferryman. <br /> <br />The said ferries shall run between the hours of 6 A.M. and 8 P.M. and that we the citizens believe <br />this to be the best way of running the said ferries. Further, that a committee of three be appointed to <br />see that said ferryman run the said ferries according to the above agreement. <br /> <br />Signed by A.B. Hasner, P. Delevare, J. Delevare and several others <br /> <br /> <br />After a thorough discussion on all points relating to above petition, it was on motion laid on the <br />table until our next meeting. <br /> <br />The following bills were presented and on motion allowed: <br /> <br />A.N.
