<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />October 19, 1895 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Common Council met at Chas. S. Wheaton’s office at 4 P.M. <br /> <br />Present: Chas S. Wheaton, President; J.F. Lewis and Fred Hildreth, Trustees; Andrew Davis, <br />Recorder. <br /> <br />The following bills were presented and on motion allowed: <br /> <br />Fred Stimson, road work, $37.50 <br />Luther McNeil, road work, $6.00 <br />Chas. Davis, road work, $2.13 <br /> <br />The following resolutions were presented and on motion allowed: <br /> <br />Resolved that the sum of Twenty-Five Dollars be appropriated in payment of the share of the <br />Village of Elk River for maintaining a free ferry across the Mississippi River (known as the lower <br />ferry) for the month ending October 22, 1895, order payable to J.G. Gray. <br /> <br />Resolved that the sum of Twenty-Five Dollars ($25) be appropriated in payment of the share of the <br />Village of Elk River for maintaining a free ferry across the Mississippi River (known as the upper <br />ferry) for the month ending October 26, 1895, order payable to J.G. Gray. <br /> <br />On motion it was voted to levy a tax of ($350) Three Hundred Fifty Dollars in said Village for 1895. <br /> <br />On motion it was voted to continue the allowance on free ferry (known as lower ferry) until the <br />river froze over. <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Andrew Davis <br />Recorder <br /> <br />
