<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER <br />January 10, 1893 <br /> <br /> <br />Minutes of the proceedings of the Charter Election held at Music Hall in the Village of Elk River on Tuesday, <br />January 10, 1893. <br /> <br />In the absence of the regular Judges of Election, W.F. Chadbourne and E.E. Chase were appointed to fill the <br />vacancies and took each an oath to serve as such Judge. <br /> <br />E.E. Bryant, Village Recorder subscribed to an oath to act as Clerk of said election. <br /> <br />Proclomation of the opening of the polls was made by E.E. Chase, one of the judges at one o’clock p.m. <br /> <br />At four o’clock the polls were closed by proclamation of W.F. Chadbourne, one of the judges. <br /> <br />The judges then proceeded to canvass the votes and the persons having the greatest number of votes for the <br />respective offices were declared elected. <br /> <br />The following is a correct statement of the canvass of votes by ballot for the election of offices as publicly <br />canvassed by the judges: <br /> D.R. Houlton received 16 votes for President, and was declared elected. <br /> <br /> W.E. Corry received 15 votes for the Trustee <br /> Fred Hildreth received 16 votes for Trustee <br /> Smith Trask received 16 votes for Trustee <br /> <br />W.E. Corry, Fred Hildreth and Smith Trask were declared elected Trustees. <br /> <br /> E.E. Bryant received 16 votes for Recorder and was declared elected. <br /> <br /> Harry Castle received 15 votes for Treasurer and was declared elected. <br /> <br /> B.A. Latta received 16 votes for Justice <br /> Jas. N. Hare received 15 votes for Justice <br />B.A. Latta and Jas. U. Han were declared elected Justices. <br /> <br /> Wm. Gliff received 15 votes for Constable and was declared elected. <br /> <br />A true record. <br /> <br />Attest: E.E.
