Box 490 <br />Elk River, MN 55330-0490 <br /> <br />RE: TRUNK HIGHWAY 10/171 ST AVENUE SIGNAL IMPROVEMENT <br /> <br />Dear Council Members: <br /> <br />We have tabulated the bids for the TH 10/171st Avenue Signal improvement opened on <br />Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at 10:00 a.m. There were a total of four bidders. The names of the <br />bidders and their total bid appear in the following table: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Accurate Electric, Inc. <br />Killmer Electric, Inc. <br />Ridgedale Electric, Inc. <br />Design Electric, Inc. <br /> <br />$169,221.26 <br />173,832.03 <br />179,726.72 <br />190,570.00 <br /> <br />The Engineer's Estimate for this project was approximately $183,000.00. Accurate Electric is <br />approximately 8% under the Engineer's Estimate. Accurate Electric has not performed work in <br />the City of Elk River previously; therefore, we contacted Tom Dumont, Assistant Traffic <br />Engineer for MnDOT District 3, for a reference. Mr. Dumont indicated that Accurate Electric has <br />done a substantial amount of work in the St. Cloud area and MnDOT has always found their <br />work to be of good quality. Therefore, we would recommend award of the contract to Accurate <br />Electric, Inc., in the amount of $169,221.26. Attached is a resolution for the City Council's <br />consideration accepting the bid and authorizing the execution of the contract. <br /> <br />We have had a brief discussion with Accurate Electric regarding the timing of this project. They <br />have indicated that they would like to begin immediately and hope to have all the equipment <br />available for installation within six to eight weeks. Therefore, it is anticipated the signal could be <br />up and operational in early summer of 1999. <br /> <br />If you have any questions, I will be in attendance at your April 12, 1999, City Council meeting. <br /> <br />Sincerely, <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Howard R.
