<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />April 18, 1890 <br /> <br />Council met in special session at Recorders Office at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Present: D. R. Houlton, Wm. E. Cory, K.H. Burrell, L.L. Baker <br /> <br />Ordinance No. 33 repealing ordinance No. 23 was read and passed by the following vote: <br />Ayes: Houlton, Burrell, Cory and Baker; none voting in the negative. <br /> <br /> Ordinance No. 34 for the restraining of cattle was read by the Recorder and after some debate was <br />passed by the following vote: Ayes: Houlton, Burrell, Cory and Baker. Nays: none. <br /> <br />George Malkson was elected Pound Master for the east end of town with the pound located on a <br />piece of land owned by J.Q.A. Nickerson. The president appointed L.L. Baker a committee to <br />locate a pound at the upper or west end of town with authority to locate and build said pound. <br /> <br />D.R. Houlton was appointed a committee to make a contract with L.Q. Hare for running the ferry <br />this year and to have tickets printed making six crossings for 23 cents. The bill of K.H. Burrell of <br />$2.00 for posts for building pound last year was allowed. <br /> <br />Adjourned. <br /> <br />Attest: L.L.
