Steinman, Director of Economic <br />Development <br /> <br />AprilS, 1999 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Assistant Director of Economic <br />Development Position <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />The Economic Development Authority authorized city staff to utilize the <br />services of Jim Brimeyer, The Brimeyer Group, to aid in the location of <br />potential candidates for the assistant director of economic development <br />position. Mter careful review of approximately 31 applications and interviews <br />with five individuals, a verbal offer of employment was made to Marc <br />Nevinski, currently the executive director of the economic development <br />partnership of Wright County. Mr. Nevinski has been employed with the <br />Wright County Partnership since May 1997. He has completed a four year <br />degree in political science and communications and is approximately one year <br />from earning his master's degree in urban planning. <br /> <br />Mr. Nevinski was unanimously selected by the interview team consisting of <br />Finance Director Lori Johnson and I and has been verbally offered the <br />assistant director of economic development position at a starting salary of <br />$38,000 per year, and an employment start date of May 10,1999, pending <br />final approval by the City Council. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve hiring Marc Nevinski to the <br />position of assistant director of economic development at a starting annual <br />salary of $38,000. <br /> <br />Attachments <br /> <br />.
