<br /> <br />Request for Action <br /> <br /> <br />To Item Number <br /> <br />Mayor and City Council 4.5 <br />Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br /> <br />ConsentMarch 6, 2017Lauren Wipper, Human Resource Representative <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />Hire Part-time Community Service Officer I Darren McKernan, Patrol Captain <br />David Dummer, Special Services Sergeant <br />Reviewed by <br />Cal Portner, City Administrator <br /> <br />Action Requested <br /> <br />Approve, by motion, the hiring of Christina Bolduc to the position of part-time community service <br />officer beginning March 7, 2017. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br /> <br />Community Service Officer I Robert Pullar accepted a fulltime police officer position with the City of <br />Ramsey leaving vacant his part-time CSO-I position. The part-time CSO-I positions are sunsetting <br />positions, intended to last two years, with a possible extension of one year depending on the employee’s <br />education track. <br /> <br />We recruited internally to fill this position and received interest from two current employees. Following <br />interviews with both candidates, we recommend Christina Bolduc for this position. <br /> <br />Christina Bolduc is a current reserve officer with the Elk River Police. She received recognition from the <br />department for volunteering 354 hours to the reserve unit in 2016 and continues to lead the unit in <br />volunteer hours in 2017. She has obtained an Associate in Science degree in law enforcement and is <br />currently taking online courses that will transfer to Metro State where her plan is to on obtain a Bachelor <br />in Criminal Justice. <br /> <br />Ms. Bolduc will be paid at step A of pay grade 2.
