Elk River <br /> Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> TO: FROM: <br /> Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Mark Fuchs—Electric Superintendent <br /> John Dietz—Chair <br /> Al Nadeau—Vice Chair <br /> Daryl Thompson—Trustee <br /> MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br /> February 14, 2017 6.1c <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Staff Update <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> • Had twelve new services. <br /> • Continue working on collecting data with the GPS for our ArcView maps as time <br /> permits. <br /> • Continue tree trimming. <br /> • Continue to rebuild 165th Ave; this is in Area 2 that we recently acquired from Connexus. <br /> • Working on testing the overhead and underground protective grounds. We are also <br /> testing the fiberglass hot sticks. Both of these are done annually. <br /> • A vehicle hit a three phase pole at 10293 Twin Lakes Road that needed to be replaced. <br /> We also had vehicle hit a street light pole by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) <br /> on Railroad Drive. <br /> • There was a semi turning around on 165th Avenue that caught the guy wire by the <br /> railroad tracks; two wires broke and landed on the tracks causing the railroad arms to stay <br /> down until the wires were cleared off the tracks. Worked with the BNSF to get the wires <br /> back up over the tracks. <br /> • Tom Geiser attended a training course that was hosted by Rochester Public Utilities, and <br /> instructed by John Miner with Collaboration Unlimited, January 23-26 in Rochester, MN. <br /> The course was geared towards designing and engineering infrastructure to National <br /> Electrical Safety Code (NESC) standards. <br /> • Mike O'Neill, Tom Geiser and I attended the National Safety Code (NESC)Regional <br /> Workshop that Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association (MMUA)held in Plymouth, <br /> MN. The one day seminar covered some of the major changes to the new NESC 2017 <br /> Edition that was recently released. <br /> • I recently attended the MMUA Job Training and Safety Committee (JTS)Annual <br /> Planning Meeting held January 18-19 in Marshall, MN.
