Klaers, City t~strator February 8, 1999 DATE: SUBJECT: Special City Council Meetings The City Council is asked to consider calling a number of special meetings for the next few months. The first issue is a joint meeting with the County Board on Tuesday, February 23, 1999, 6:00 p.m., at City Hall. Topics to discuss with the County Board include at least the following items: . Streets in general - specifically County Road 12 . Northstar Corridor project . School liaison program . Solid waste issues (landfill and score funds) . Status of the county building construction project . If this February 23 date is not acceptable, then I need to hear from the council regarding other dates to suggest to the County Board. There are 15 annual reports which get presented to the City Council. In actuality, there are 14 that get presented to council, and 1 to the EDA of which Councilmember Dietz receives a copy. We have tried a number of approaches for presentation of the annual reports with various degrees of success. This year, we would like to reserve a couple of meetings for annual report nights. As the City Council no longer regularly meets on the first Monday of the month, we are hoping to have the council call a special meeting for the first Monday in March (March 1), and the first Monday in April (ApriI5) for annual reports. It may be difficult to keep other items off these agendas, but the intent is to have time for the department heads to review their operation, goals, and needs with the council. I hope to have 4 annual reports given each meeting. The other annual reports will have to be presented at regular meetings, and we may look at a two hour special meeting on the fifth Monday of March for a few more annual reports. . 13065 Orono Parkway · P.O.
