Elk River
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Theresa Slominski -Finance and Office Manager
John Dietz—Chair
Al Nadeau—Vice Chair
Daryl Thompson—Trustee
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
November 15, 2016 5.2
SUBJECT:
Assessments 2016
BACKGROUND:
Per State Statute, delinquent services can be assessed to the property taxes for Water, Sewer,
Stormwater, Trash, and qualifying Electric and Franchise Fee services.
DISCUSSION:
Attached is a listing of proposed assessments for customers with outstanding balances that still
remain unpaid for the above noted services. We sent letters out giving notice that payment would
need to be made or amounts will be assessed to individual property taxes in accordance with
Minnesota Statute. The remaining unpaid balances total $14,762.86. The City Council would
need to approve the assessments and take them to the county for the actual assessment on the
property taxes. The City Council will receive this listing to approve at their November 21St
meeting, pending our commission's approval. (In addition, there are some special assessments
totaling $26,387.54 that the City has worked out with customers to pay for water and/or sewer
connection fees that the City will be taking to City Council separately through their processes.)
ACTION REQUESTED:
Staff recommends approving the attached list(s) totaling $14,762.86 to take to the City Council
for assessment on property taxes.
ATTCHMENT:
• 2016 Assessments Listing
POWERED BY
Page 1 of 1 NATURE
Reliable Public'
Power Provider POWERED To S ERV E
ins
