T-\e.~ ~.l(-

MEMORANDUM

TO: Pat Klaers, City Administrator
FROM: Terry Maurer, City Engine~

DATE: December 29, 2004

SUBJECT: City/County Transportation Committee

As you are aware, the two City Councihnembers on the City/County Transportation
Committee were Councihnember Kuester and Councihnember T veite. With th~ new City
Council taking their seats in January of 2005, I would request that the Council consider two
new appointments for this Committee. The Committee generally meets on a quarterly basis
on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 3:30 p.m. On other months, just Dave Sphwarting,
County Engineer and myself meet to continue to discuss current topics. Weare aue for the
whole Transportation Committee to meet in January, although I believe that the fourth
Tuesday of the month may be a problem for some members.

As you are aware, the most current issue that the Committee has been working qn is the
turn-back of County Road 40 (Cleveland Avenue) from the County to the City. 'That
process is nearing completion with the only remaining item being to negotiate the actual
turn-back agreement. I believe that the next major issue the Committee will tacWe will be
the status of County Road 44 (Meadowvale Road). That roadway is due to be re~onstructed
and it will likely be discussed as a second potential turn-back candidate from the County to
the City.

If you have any questions or need further information relative to this request, pl~ase contact
me.

S:\PLANNING\ Teny Maurer\12 29 04 City-Co Transp Comm.doc
