A total of eight
candidates were interviewed and an offer was made to Todd Neal. Todd's hiring was approved by
City Council on August 1 and he will begin work on August 17. Todd comes to us from Anoka
County Parks. This is the position that was previously held by Josh Baas who is now the Park
Maintenance Lead.
Riverfront Concert Series 2016 and River Edge Commons Park
The last concert in the current venue for the Concert Series will be "Ladies of the 80's" on August
11. Rivers Edge Commons Park is officialy closed on August 12. Construction on the park
expansion will begin on August 22nd with substantial completion by October 1, and final
completion in the spring of 2017.
Beginning August 22, the city lower parking lot will be closed to provide a staging area for
construction. The city does not expect any interruptions to electrical service in the downtown
business area;however, there will be minimal interruptions to downtown street lights as utilities are
relocated within the park. Once complete this expansion will nearly double the seating capacity for
the summer concert series and provide an exceptional venue for weddings.
Hillside City Park Plan
A meeting of the Hillside City Park Plan Committee was held on Auguat 4 with city staff,MORC
representatives,Jay Thompson and Graydon Betts; and Park Commission Chair Dave Anderson.
The Committee reviewed an overall draft plan and trail plan for the park.
