Elk River
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Tom Sagstetter - Conservation and Key Accounts
John Dietz—Chair Manager
Al Nadeau—Vice Chair
Daryl Thompson—Trustee
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
August 9, 2016 6.1f
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
DISCUSSION:
• Staff met with Dave Berg from Dave Berg Consulting, LLC for the cost of service study
to answer some general questions on cost and sales projections. The study is progressing
and the first analysis should be completed in September. Staff has allowed for some
flexibility in the schedule to allow for the inclusion of updated capital and wholesale
power costs.
• Staff is in the process of finalizing the electric vehicle charging American Public Power
Association(APPA) Grant. Determining the final partnerships and location of charging
facilities is still ongoing, but there are partners that are committed to the program if the
infrastructure can be located economically at their facilities. Staff is also working with
Great River Energy(GRE)to determine if there are funds available for charging stations.
• Received a large rebate request from a local retailer to convert from a metal halide
lighting system to LEDs. ERMU is well on the way to meeting the energy savings of 2.5
million kWh.
• Attended the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA) annual dinner meeting.
• Working with Connexus Energy on the second service territory transfer. There was a
joint letter sent from Connexus that was signed by both Connexus and ERMU informing
customers of the service change that will take place in September. ERMU staff is
preparing letters to send to the new customers. The process for the second territory will
be exactly the same as the first territory transfer in 2015.
1 D V E R E O IT
I El
Page 1 of 1 NATURE
Reliable Rblic"
Power Provider P OW E R E D T O S ERY E
98
