of Elk Memorandum River To: Parks and Recreation Commission From: Michael Hecker,Parks and Recreation Director Date: July 13,2016 Subject: Director's Report This report is a monthly highlight of department activities related to collaboration, strategic planning, staff changes/developments, and park operations. Park Maintenance Worker Position Interviews for the vacant Park Maintenance Worker were held on July 7 and 8. A total of eight candidates were interviewed. This is the position that was previously held by Josh Baas who is now the Park Maintenance Lead. Riverfront Concert Series 2016 Thus far,we have had four concerts for the Riverfront Concert Series. The next concert is the Dee Miller Band on July 14. Attendance has been strong at all the concerts,inlcudig the Arch Allies which had to move to the Ice Arena because of weather. The concert schedule is as follows? June 16 Rockin' Hollywoods June 23 Lamont Cranston June 30 Whitesidewalls July 7 Arch Allies July 14 Dee Miller Band July 21 Song Blast July 28 Fabulous Armadillos August 4 Church of Cash August 11 Ladies of the 80's MORC Agreement City Council approved on June 20, 2016 the Memorandum of Agreement between the City of Elk River and the Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists (MORC). This means that Hillside City Park is now officially a MORC mountain bike trail. Fees are no longer being charged to use the trails. The Parks staff continues to work well with new Hillside Park volunteers. One of the volunteers, Graydon Betts,is the MORC Board Treasurer and an Elk River resident who along with Harriet Holasek has agreed in the short term to take on the Park Trail Steward responsibilities. A new Hillside City Park facebook page has been developed by city staff assisted by MORC volunteers. . The moderator for the MORC website/forums is now Graydon Betts.
