Elk River
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Theresa Slominski—Finance and Office Manager
John Dietz—Chair
Al Nadeau—Vice Chair
Daryl Thompson—Trustee
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
May 10,2016 6.1b
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
DISCUSSION:
We shut off approximately 60 services on Tuesday, April 19th-the first time we were able since
the cold weather rule expiration on April 15th. There are only a few services still off and it
appears there is no one living in these residences currently. (We refer to these situations as a
"skip") We will be conducting shut offs again the first week in May and will have a verbal
update at the commission meeting on the outcome.
Since our upgrade at the beginning of April, we have identified a few issues that are not working
as they should and have programming requests in place to correct. Some examples of the issues
are: some payments aren't being applied correctly, some reversals of penalties and payments
aren't being reflected correctly in customer history, a report isn't summing correctly, and some
defaults were overwritten and need to be reset. Since we have gone live with iVUE, this is the
first upgrade we have done so close to the original release and so we have found that we may be
the ones finding the problems, rather than benefitting from others finding them and having it
fixed before we upgrade.
On a positive note, since the upgrade we have also benefitted from some enhancements with
recurring pay functionality in payroll, some multi-service enhancements on the CIS side that we
had been waiting for and are glad they are now in place, and the vault tracking(a document
image-capturing functionality) has been super.
Our insurance renewal paperwork is due this month and so we have been working on that
information, as well as the upcoming bonding, the cost of service study, and some internal
evaluations of the landfill gas plant and security services.
Kathy Greenberg attended a Public Employees Retirement Association(PERA) Pre-Retirement
Workshop April 15th in St. Paul,MN. Her education report is attached.
IOIERED I !
EN Page 1 of 2 NATURE
Reliable Public.
Power Provider P OWERED T O S ERV E
223
