4v46L,A-. It 11 s--
Library Services Coordinator's Report
Elk River Library Board
November 2015
Staff News
Library Assistant Janice Connolly has worked for Great River Regional Library in Elk River 20
years. We really benefit from having her experience and that of our other over-20 staff like
Pamela Wagman and Monica Miller. We congratulate her on reaching this milestone and thank
her for all that she has contributed to the community in the past two decades.
Jan is our best promoter of free library events like author readings, musical performances,
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten for early literacy, and other family programs. She is
intimately connected to the local community and has lived through many life changes
with her regular patrons.
Zimmerman Schools Outreach
Library Assistant Pamela Wagman presented five times to nine classes in one day(!)about
library services for Zimmerman school children in October. That day, she reached nearly as
many attendees as we had at storytime all month. Many of these students, currently unserved by
a branch in their own community, got library cards for the first time, In November, she returned
to do it again with a whole new set of classes.
Storytimes
Our three weekly storytimes of Toddler Time, Preschool Storytime and now Baby Bounce
continue to bring in the largest portion of Elk River's program attendance —almost 250 attendees
(or about 20 per storytime) in October. Storytime not only brings back into the library new
parents who haven't been here since they were kids themselves, it bolsters the library's mission
of literacy by helping train the next generation of readers. Thank you, Sandy Welton and Debbie
Carron!
