INDY LUBE - This is an Indiana-based 10-minute oil <br /> change business. The company has tentatively identified <br /> less than ten Minnesota cities, including Elk River, for a <br /> potential expansion program. Other Minnesota cities <br /> include Austin, Rochester, Brainerd, and Owatonna. Staff <br /> provided Indy Lube with information on the community as <br /> well as financing programs that may be available here. <br /> 2 . SHOPKO PLANNING AND RESEARCH INQUIRY - The Chamber and <br /> City jointly responded to an inquiry from Shopko' s <br /> 110 planning and research department library. The Research <br /> Librarian requested information on major employers, major <br /> retailers, locations, community profile, hotel/motel <br /> listing, etc. This name has been added to our list for <br /> future mailings, and, the City had been in contact with <br /> one of Shopko's real estate representatives. <br /> 3. BATTING CAGES - Staff is in receipt of a request for <br /> 10,000 to 12,000 square feet of available industrial space <br /> for a proposed batting cage operation. The inquiry was <br /> directed to the Alltool Manufacturing Company, owner of a <br /> 20,000 square foot vacant building in the Elk River <br /> Industrial Park. <br /> 4 . RESTAURANT INQUIRY - Staff responded to an inquiry from <br /> a resident who seeks to open a Chicago-style Italian <br /> restaurant in the community. The caller specifically <br /> referenced the EDA Main Street site as a potential site to <br /> develop along with other uses, or, to simply lease space <br /> if another developer of the site could be identified. <br /> PREVIOUS PROSPECTS <br /> 1. PERF-FORM PRODUCTS, INC. - Staff worked with this <br /> company in identifying a vacant lot in the McChesney <br /> Industrial Park. At the March 1, 1993, City Council <br /> • meeting, the City Council agreed to the concept of using a <br /> TIF grant from Districts No. 1 and No. 3 to reimburse the <br /> Company for certain "eligible expenditures" that are <br /> 720 Dodge Avenue N.W., Elk River, Minnesota 55330 (612) 441-7420 <br />
