A.( <br /> ¶1River <br /> FROM: WILLIAM RUBIN, ED COORDINATO 1 — <br /> DATE: APRIL 7, 1993 <br /> SUBJECT: PROSPECT STATUS REPORT <br /> The following is a summary of new industrial and commercial <br /> prospects that have expressed an interest in locating in the <br /> City of Elk River since the last EDA meeting. <br /> NEW PROSPECTS <br /> 1 . Power Generation Service - This is an Anoka Manufacturer <br /> that requires a new or existing 20,000 to 30,000 square <br /> foot facility. The company currently employs 25 persons . <br /> Information on the Elk River Industrial Park as well as <br /> incentive programs were sent to the company. It is hoped <br /> that a meeting with company representatives can be <br /> arranged in the near future. <br /> 2 . Water Laboratories - This is an existing Elk River <br /> • company that is officed out of the multi-tenant building <br /> at east Main Street and Gates Avenue. Due to continued <br /> growth, the company seeks additional office and laboratory <br /> space. <br /> 3 . Electronics Manufacturer - Staff was in contact with an <br /> individual that has developed a prototype electronic <br /> device that is intended for the baseball market. The <br /> device is an electronic umpire that "calls" the strike <br /> zone and registers the velocity of a pitched ball . This <br /> device, in turn, frees up the need for a catcher and an <br /> instructor ordinarily required to work with a pitcher. <br /> The company seeks working capital and eventually <br /> manufacturing space. The company obtained information on <br /> the Elk River programs and was put in touch with the <br /> Initiative Fund. <br /> 4 . Discount-Used Clothes Store - Staff received an inquiry <br /> from an individual who operates a store similar to Good <br /> Will Industries. The store is called Chaps Store and it <br /> is located in Circle Pines . The caller was seeking 6,000 <br /> square feet of discounted retail space to open a store in <br /> Elk River. <br /> 5 . Champion Auto - As some Commissioners may be aware, the <br /> Elk River Champion Auto store may be a prospect for the <br /> 720 Dodge Avenue N.W., Elk River, Minnesota 55330 (612) 441-7420 <br />
