Elk River <br /> MuniJai Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> TO: FROM: <br /> Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Troy Adams, P.E. —General Manager <br /> John Dietz—Chair <br /> Al Nadeau—Vice Chair <br /> Daryl Thompson—Trustee <br /> MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br /> March 15, 2016 6.la <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Staff Updates—General Manager <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> • The Board of Directors of the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency(MMPA)met on <br /> February 23, 2016 in Shakopee,Minnesota. <br /> At the meeting,the Board approved completion of MMPA's 46 Megawatt Shakopee <br /> distributed generation project. <br /> The Board also approved Hometown Solar grant awards for 5 kW solar projects in the <br /> member communities of Arlington, Brownton, Olivia, and Winthrop. <br /> The 2016 Energy Education program continues to have high participation in member <br /> communities and project host communities. This year, MMPA expects approximately <br /> 2,500 students to participate from 31 schools from all twelve member communities. The <br /> Energy Education program aligns with Minnesota's fourth grade science standards and <br /> focuses on how energy is generated, transmitted, and used. <br /> • The MMUA Legislative Rally in St. Paul is scheduled for Tuesday, April 19. There will <br /> be the day at the capitol followed by a reception for the legislators. This event was <br /> changed from a Thursday to a Tuesday this year to help improve legislator attendance.
