ELK RIVER ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY <br /> 411 <br /> TO: ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY <br /> FROM: WILLIAM RUBIN, ED COORDINATO <br /> DATE: JULY 21, 1993 <br /> SUBJECT: RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR A CERTIFIED <br /> DEVELOPMENT COMPANY <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> At its meeting on March 8, 1993, the Elk River Economic <br /> Development Authority (EDA) adopted EDA Resolution 93-2, <br /> entitled "A Resolution Requesting that the Coon Rapids <br /> Development Company Extend its Service Territory to Include the <br /> Corporate Limits of Elk River, Minnesota A copy of this <br /> resolution is attached to the memo. <br /> At its meeting in June, EDA Commissioners learned that the <br /> proposal from the Coon Rapids Development Company significantly <br /> changed, thereby necessitating the exploration of other <br /> multi-county Certified Development Companies that may be <br /> • willing to expand into Sherburne County. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> Staff has indetified such a development company. It is called <br /> the Twin Cities-Metro Certified Development Company and it <br /> serves six of the seven metropolitan area counties ( its service <br /> territory excludes Anoka County). The writer of this memo <br /> understands that EDA Commissioners received background <br /> information on this organization at its July meeting. <br /> To determine whether or not there was sufficient support county <br /> wide for the expansion of Twin Cities-Metro into Sherburne <br /> County, a luncheon meeting was held on July 15. Colleagues <br /> from Wright and Sherburne Counties attended this meeting. <br /> Specifically, the following persons were in attendance to hear <br /> a presentation by the Executive Director of Twin Cities-Metro: <br /> Bill Goff, City of Big Lake <br /> Lee Paulson, City of Zimmerman <br /> Bill Grabski, Wright County Economic Development Council <br /> (Minnesota Technology, Inc. ) <br /> Mary Eberley, Sherburne County Economic Development <br /> Council <br /> Larry Schwann, Oakley National Bank, Buffalo <br /> Sandy Halbleib, Buffalo Chamber of Commerce <br /> • Sharry Berning, Frankfort Township Clerk <br /> Dave Graning, City of Becker <br /> P.O.
