! -�0 . <br /> ELK RIVER ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY <br /> 411 <br /> TO: ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY <br /> FROM: WILLIAM RUBIN, ED COORDINATO <br /> DATE: JANUARY 5, 1994 <br /> SUBJECT: PROSPECT STATUS REPORT <br /> The following is a summary of new industrial and commercial <br /> prospects that have expressed an interest in locating in the <br /> City of Elk River since the last EDA meeting. <br /> NEW PROSPECTS <br /> 1 . JR Tech Automotive - Jim Rogness, owner of JR Tech <br /> Automotive, 16501 Highway 10, has inquired about the <br /> availability of vacant sites in the one to one and one <br /> half acre range. He seeks to construct a new 6,300 square <br /> foot automotive repair facility in Elk River. This type <br /> of use is allowed in a C-3, Highway Commercial zoning <br /> district by way of a conditional use permit. Staff has <br /> also discussed revising the I-i, Light Industrial <br /> standards to allow this type of use in that district, <br /> subject to a conditional use permit, too. EDA <br /> Commissioners will recall that Mr. Rogness requested an <br /> EDA micro loan in the early 1990 's to convert the former E <br /> & 0 Tool and Plastics building into an automotive repair <br /> shop. Mr. Rogness is currently a tenant in a building <br /> along Highway 10 and the building has been listed for <br /> sale. Mr. Rogness does not believe he can agree to terms <br /> with the building' s owner. <br /> 2 . Photographic Specialty Products Staff has been in <br /> contact with a Golden Valley-based photographic specialty <br /> products company which occupies approximately 10,000 <br /> square feet in leased space. The company desires to <br /> expand and relocate its operations and an employee of the <br /> company (who is also an Elk River resident) has inquired <br /> about sites and financing programs in the community. <br /> 3 . Acucraft, Inc. Acucraft is a Big Lake-based company <br /> which manufactures fireplace units as well as a cordless <br /> engine heater.
