US Postal Service Presentation <br /> The US Postal Service has prepared a presentation to the EDA and <br /> HRA at this meeting regarding their planned relocation and expansion <br /> of the post office from its current downtown location to a potential <br /> Highway 169 location. <br /> The following is a summary of discussions staff has had with <br /> representatives of the post office regarding rdin the following <br /> issues/questions regarding their planned relocation and expansion <br /> project: <br /> •The sites provided as options along Jackson Avenue did not <br /> meet the requirements for the retail segment of the planned <br /> post office expansion. <br /> • The post office has been most favorable to sites that are on <br /> major traffic corridors, creating high visibility for their <br /> planned retail uses. <br /> • The post office has proposed a central business district location <br /> for a contract postal unit (CPU),which is similar to the type of <br /> postal services that are often times seen in large grocery <br /> stores. <br /> • The post office is currently reviewing a site on Highway 169 <br /> near the mobile home park redevelopment project. <br /> The post office presentation will likely include a review of the various <br /> central business district sites that were reviewed and denied, along <br /> with an update on the progress they are making toward the purchase <br /> of a site for construction of their new facility. <br /> In the last meeting with the postal service, their was complete <br /> rejection of further discussion of splitting the retail and distribution <br /> 13065 Orono Parkway • P.
