al ....i <br /> . , <br /> lEik <br /> ity <br /> River <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> TO: Economic Development Authority i l <br /> 8 <br /> FROM: Heidi Hall, Economic Development Assistant nm # <br /> DATE: September 9, 2002 <br /> SUBJECT: Strategic Industrial Marketing Activities Update <br /> Attachment <br /> • Features from the August 2002 Minnesota Real Estate Journal Leasing Guide <br /> Public Relations Strategy <br /> The EDA recently accepted the Strategic Industrial Marketing Action Plan for 2002-2004. <br /> • The Plan includes a Public Relations Strategy in which Anita Duckor of Duckor& <br /> Associates recommended that the EDA hire a public relations writer/consultant. <br /> In response to the EDA's acceptance of the Plan, staff met with Ms. Duckor and Michael <br /> Porter of MCPorter Marketing Communications, Inc. to discuss the Public Relations <br /> Strategy. Mr. Porter will propose a two-year strategy that staff will bring to the EDA for <br /> consideration at its October 14th meeting. <br /> Key Accounts & Lead Generation Strategy <br /> Staff is currently developing a schedule of regular contact and meetings with key accounts <br /> for the remainder of this year and the year 2003,which may be presented during the <br /> October marketing activities update. <br /> Manufacturers & Technology Week, October 21-25, 2002 <br /> Staff is working with the Elk River Area Chamber of Commerce to plan Elk River's <br /> recognition of Manufacturers &Technology Week. Preliminary plans include plant tours of <br /> energy related industries, a luncheon,keynote speaker and a visit to the Elk River Landfill <br /> Gas-to-Electric facility open house. The event will be advertised in the October Elk River <br /> Area Chamber of Commerce Newsletter. In addition,Tammy Miller Design is designing an <br /> advertisement for placement in the October 23`d issue of the Elk River Star News in <br /> recognition of all Elk River manufacturers. Furthermore, staff is working with SoftPac <br /> Industries to organize a plant tour and ribbon-cutting event for city officials in October. <br />
