Completing trail with the street replacement will be cheaper as there
is only one mobilization cost for the contractor, which is a more efficient use of city funds.
The Orono Parkway Trail replacement was budgeted at$89,000. The postponement enables new options
for park maintenance for 2016. Staff has identified the following options:
• School View Trail paving- $15,000.
• Orono Parkway Trail patchwork for bad areas -less than$3,000.
• William H. Houlton Conservation Area parking lot paving—approximately$40,000.
An estimate for a bituminous parking lot with curb and gutter discussed recently by the Houlton Planning
Committee for the conservation area is currently being worked on by staff.
The balance of the $89,000 would be forwarded to 2017 and when added with 2017 estimated revenues in
the Park Improvement Fund should be sufficient to make the Orono Parkway trail replacement possible.
The other trail repairs outlined for 2016 in the Park Improvement Fund such as the Twin Lakes Road
project for$112,000 are still planned to be completed this year.
Financial Impact
None
Attachments
• None
riEITURE
