Elk River <br /> Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> TO: FROM: <br /> Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Eric Volk- Water Superintendent <br /> John Dietz—Chair <br /> Al Nadeau—Vice Chair <br /> Daryl Thompson—Trustee <br /> MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br /> January 12, 2016 6.1e <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Staff Update <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> • Delivered five new residential water meters, and two new commercial meters. <br /> • Sealed the water meter, and took curb stop ties from eleven water services. <br /> • Went on 18 service calls <br /> • Completed 25 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br /> o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria. <br /> • Completed 20 routine fluoride samples <br /> o All samples met MDH standards. <br /> • Completed one nitrate sample for Well #5 <br /> • The Minnesota Department of Health was out to take samples from Well #5. The samples <br /> are looking for unregulated contaminants. <br /> • We had eight more businesses sign up for the Private Hydrant Maintenance Program, <br /> which brings us up to a total of 181 private hydrants on the program. There are currently <br /> 20 businesses, with 38 hydrants, that are not on the program. <br /> • The water operators are currently performing the annual maintenance on all of the wells. <br /> This includes recharging all of the filters, replacing chemical feed equipment, and <br /> repairing any items that need attention. <br /> • The WTP #7 Expansion Project has gone out for bids. We should have a recommendation <br /> for awarding the bid at the February Commission Meeting. <br /> • We posted for the vacant water operator position.
