Iteml 7 <br /> • City Elk <br /> River <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> TO: Housing & Redevelopment Authority <br /> FROM: Catherine Mehelich, Director of Economic Developmentg <br /> DATE: August 27, 2001 <br /> SUBJECT: Discuss Desired Redevelopment Uses for the NE Corner of Highway 169 <br /> & Main Street <br /> Attachments <br /> *Arieal Map of Proposed Redevelopment Area <br /> *Plat& Zoning Map of Proposed Redevelopment Area <br /> Issue <br /> Kraus-Anderson is continuing to research redevelopment opportunities for the NE corner <br /> • of Highway 169 and Main St. Staff requests the HRA discuss the desired redevelopment <br /> concept for the area so staff may provide direction to the developer. <br /> Background <br /> Initially the proposed redevelopment area includes the following: <br /> *Vacated Ron's Foods grocery store on 2.38-acres <br /> * City of Elk River Emporium on .79-acres <br /> * 2— 15unit apartment buildings on approximately 2-acres,located on Third Street <br /> Additionally, the redevelopment area may be expanded or a second phase be added with the <br /> adjacent single-family homes and apartment buildings located to the north. <br /> Requested Action <br /> Staff recommends the HRA discuss and define the desired uses for the proposed <br /> redevelopment area,which may include the following: <br /> * Office <br /> *Retail (single-user or multi-tenant) <br /> * Restaurant/Hotel <br /> * Multi-family residential <br /> * Mixed-use development <br /> Staff will share the information with the developer and invite them to submit a <br /> redevelopment proposal for further consideration of the HRA's assistance. <br />
