Elk River Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING TO: FROM: Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Theresa Slominski—Finance and Office Manager John Dietz—Chair Al Nadeau—Vice Chair Daryl Thompson—Trustee MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: September 8, 2015 6.1b SUBJECT: Staff Update DISCUSSION: Two NISC Accounting and Business Solutions (ABS) staff members will be onsite the week of August 31st through September 4th to provide a review and accounting assistance with the various ABS modules. We have a number of questions on processes and integration between the Customer Information Services (CIS) and ABS pieces of the software that we hope to work through that week. Additionally, we have questions regarding the future of the software regarding municipals and multi-service accounts versus the current co-op functionality the software was built upon. I will provide a verbal update of the visit at the meeting. Our new Accounts Payable and Payroll Specialist, Kathy Greenberg, started August 24th and jumped right in as payroll was due that week. She has been doing payroll and accounts payable for most of her career and so is catching on very quickly. Learning the software is the priority and it should be helpful to have NISC here to offer some additional support for a few days. After meeting with a consultant, I have been working on some transmission items with MISO reporting,to be able to maximize the return on investments for our transmission assets in the future. Reporting years 2015 and 2016 would be the first years we would report differently, (partially in 2015 and the full year in 2016) and this would affect the returns to be received in 2017 and 2018, and of course future years as well.
