Elk River
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Tom Sagstetter- Conservation and Key Accounts
John Dietz—Chair Manager
Al Nadeau—Vice Chair
Daryl Thompson—Trustee
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
September 8th, 2015 4.2
SUBJECT:
Vision Committee— 100th Anniversary Recap
BACKGROUND:
The 100 year celebration event was held on August 27th, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The
celebration was a huge success. Michelle Canterbury did an awesome job of putting all the
pieces together for the event and all of the ERMU staff pitched in where needed to provide our
customers and community an event that they could be proud of to celebrate 100 years of electric
service in Elk River. A special thank you should be given to the members of the vision
committee that went over and above their normal duties. Those members are: Jolene Fenn-
Jansen, Mike Thiry, Angela Hauge, Geri Fournier, Wade Lovelette, Mike O'Neill, Daryl
Thompson,Michelle Canterbury and Tom Sagstetter.
DISCUSSION:
• The event had great participation. There were 1,200 tickets given to customers at the
entrance gate, but including vendors, employees, and band members, there were
approximately 1,300 individuals attending.
• There were many positive comments that were discussed with staff members during and
after the event. The comments focused on the quality of the event including the great
music by Skitzo Fonic and the food catered by Center Cut Meats. A few of our customers
took the time to send us thank you notes via the mail and through our website. One
customer wrote: "Good Job—Well Planned Out—Excellent Band—Nice Decorations—
Fun Free Handouts—Kids Events—Tour and Demonstrations. Nice Evening.Nice
Community Event. I'll look forward to the 200th celebration!"Attached is another kind
note we received.
• The other activities including the utility truck and safety demonstrations, Community
Education's Kid Zone, and the vendor booths were spectacular as well.
• A representative from Congressman Tom Emmer's office came to the event and
presented the utilities with a letter congratulating and thanking us for our one hundred
years of successful service to the Elk River community. Attached is a copy of the letter.
P ONEDED D
Page 1 of 2 NATURE
Reliable Public
Power Provider POWERED TO SERVE
92
