Eclty1� ,.,�� Request for Action <br /> River <br /> To Item Number <br /> Mayor and City Council 4.7 <br /> Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br /> Consent September 21, 2015 Lauren Wipper, Human Resource Representative <br /> Item Description Reviewed by <br /> Hire Park Maintenance Superintendent Cal Portner, City Administrator <br /> Reviewed by <br /> Action Requested <br /> Approve,by motion, the hiring of Timothy Sevcik for the position of Park Maintenance Superintendent. <br /> Background/Discussion <br /> Former Park Maintenance Supervisor, Rodney Schreifels,resigned in June of this year. We restructured <br /> this position slightly and went to market in July. We received 34 applications and interviewed the top <br /> seven candidates. Following second interviews with three candidates,we recommend Timothy Sevcik for <br /> this position. <br /> Mr. Sevcik is currently the Natural Resource Specialist with the Anoka County Parks and Recreation <br /> Department where he has worked for the past 10 years. He also serves as a Major in the Minnesota Army <br /> National Guard,Battalion S-3 Operations Officer. He holds Bachelor's degrees in both Biology and <br /> Environmental Studies. <br /> Mr. Sevcik will begin this position on October 12, 2015, and will be paid at step A of pay grade 11. Based <br /> on satisfactory performance,he will be eligible for his July 2016 step increase on April 12, 2016. He will <br /> begin accruing vacation leave at the rate of 15 days per year. All other pay and benefits will be consistent <br /> with city policy. <br /> Financial Impact <br /> The revised position and pay grade change were approved in July.
