EGty1 ,., Request for Action
River
To Item Number
Mayor and City Council 4.9
Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by
Consent September 8, 2015 Lauren Wipper, Human Resource Representative
Item Description Reviewed by
Hire Fire Department Administrative Assistant T.John Cunningham, Fire Chief
Reviewed by
Cal Portner, City Administrator
Action Requested
Approve,by motion, the hiring of Krystal Fosdick for the position of Fire Department administrative
assistant.
Background/Discussion
Following the promotion of Katie Haase to human resources technician, Chief Cunningham sought
approval from the City Council to make this fire administrative assistant position fulltime. After receiving
this approval in June,we went to market to fill the position. We received 144 applications and
interviewed the top eight candidates. We recommend Krystal Fosdick.
Ms. Fosdick is currently a fulltime deputy with the Wright County Sheriff's Office and a part-time police
officer with the Winsted Police Department. Prior to that, she worked as a police officer for the Howard
Lake Police Department. Ms. Fosdick's administrative skills coupled with her public safety experience
make her an ideal candidate for this position.
Ms. Fosdick is excited to begin this position on September 14, 2015, and will be paid at step A of pay
grade 4. All pay increases and benefits will be consistent with city policy.
Financial Impact
Vacancies in the department in 2015 cover the cost of changing this position from part-time to full-time.
Attachments
■ None
POWERED 6T
Template Updoted 4/14 INAMIRE1
