Horton, has acquired the Devine farm, <br />10457 181st Avenue NW. The owners of the property approached the City <br />regarding acquiring the barn in order to use it for a park shelter. The Park and <br />Recreation Commission debated, at two meetings, the acquisition of the barn <br />and where it could best be used. The Commission, at its April meeting, voted 6-2 <br />to recommend that the City Council acquire the barn and relocate it to the park in <br />Trott Brook Farms. <br /> <br />Staff has researched the feasibility of relocating the barn to Trott Brook Farms <br />and have determined the following prices: <br /> <br />1. Cost of moving - $5,000 <br />2. Cost of a new foundation - $5,000 <br />3. Payment to the Devine's - $3,000 <br /> TOTAL $13,000 <br /> <br />The budget for Trott Brook Farms included approximately $30,000 for a park <br />shelter. With upgrades to the foundation (a rock or fieldstone veneer) and a new <br />roof, it is staff's opinion that less than $30,000 will be spent to relocate and <br />refurbish the barn in Trott Brook Farms Park. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council authorize staff to acquire and relocate <br />the barn located on the Devine property. <br /> <br /> S:\PLANNING\MICHMC\CCREPRTS\DEVINBN.DOC <br /> <br />13065 Orono Parkway · P.O.
