RESOLUTION 82-21 <br /> WHEREAS, Kenneth Nelson has been employed by the City of Elk River from 1970 until <br /> 1982; and, <br /> WHEREAS, During the time of his employment, Mr. Nelson has, on occasion, been a <br /> public safety hazard, as in the case of mistaking an automobile for a <br /> pile of snow on Highway #10 and plowing it from the road; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Nelson has proven to be hazardous to certain pieces of equipment such <br /> as when he backed the City's road grader into his pickup truck; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Nelson's employment has proven to be costly for the City inasmuch as <br /> Sherburne County has just presented a bill for $50,000 for missing mater- <br /> ials from the County Public Works Garage to the City of Elk River; and, <br /> WHEREAS, When first employed, Ken Nelson was a silver-tongued orator and with each <br /> passing year, he has grown into a more cantankerous codger. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER that Ken <br /> Nelson's termination from the City of Elk River is hereby acknowledged with a great <br /> sign of relief; and, <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER that to help <br /> Ken enjoy the fruits of his retirement as he made his twelve years with the City <br /> so enjoyable, that the following be granted to Mr. Nelson: <br /> • 1. Life-long membership in the Elk River Softball Association and all the <br /> beer he can drink. <br /> 2. A life-time membership in the DFL Party and an appointment to future <br /> governor Rudy Perpich-s cabinet as bocce ball consultant . <br /> 3. Title to the Old Highway #101 Bridge. <br /> 4.
