jf • 1 <br /> i 3. --1 <br /> If <br /> RESOLUTION C 59 <br /> lit <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Elk River has been made aware of an attempt by certain members <br /> of the Region 7W Regional Development Commission to disband the Regional <br /> Development Commission; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Elk River has not made extensive use of services or resources <br /> offered by the Regional Development Commission; yet, at some point in the <br /> future the City may choose to make use of those services and benefit accord- <br /> ingly; and, <br /> WHEREAS, in light of impending, severe budget reductions in the State Planning <br /> Agency, the role of the Regional Development Commission may well be en- <br /> hanced. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk River that the <br /> Council hereby expresses it support for the continuation of the Region 7W <br /> Regional Development Commission. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk River that rather than <br /> an expansion in the activities or staff of the Regional Development Com- <br /> mission or the option of disbanding the Commission altogether, that the <br /> Regional Development Commission continue with the following emphasis or <br /> focus: <br /> 410 1. Providing a forum or vehicle for the various governmental agencies in the <br /> Region to meet and discuss issues of common interest within the Region. <br /> 2. To provide limited technical assistance to the various governmental <br /> agencies within the Region on areas of Regional concern, such as transpor- <br /> tation, land use planning and in particular, grants and the grant process <br /> at no charge to the communities within the Region. <br /> 3. Any additional technical assistance or expertise specifically requested <br /> by governmental agencies within the Region will be provided by the Region <br /> 7W Regional Development Commission on a fee basis only, with all costs of <br /> providing such assistance being borne by the particular government agency <br /> requesting such service. <br /> Passed and adopted this 4th day of January , 1982. <br /> (,7, ?-14,1c;44 <br /> ATTEST: Richard Hinkle <br /> Mayor <br /> Robert C.
