Elk River ,
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Tom Sagstetter- Conservation and Key Accounts
John Dietz—Chair Manager
Al Nadeau—Vice Chair
Daryl Thompson—Trustee
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
May 12th, 2015 6.1f
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
DISCUSSION:
• The landfill gas plant is back at full production. There were some difficulties in finding
replacement parts through the electrical contractor that was doing the work. Currently
staff is working with Waste Management and equipment suppliers to determine the next
steps to take to avoid an extended outage and loss of electric production.
• Co-chaired the Elk River Employee breakfast on April 27th. The event was well attended
and everyone had a great time. Bacon was added to the menu and was a huge success.
The most amazing thing is that we went through over 12 cans of Spam.
• The Energy City tours are going well with another two groups going through the
education center. Spring is always a popular time for school kids.
• Working with Elk River EDA on support for data centers. We are working to identify
other possible locations for new high energy use customers and prioritizing a list for
development based on available electric, water, sewer, and fiber optic resources.
• Collecting data for the 2014 annual conservation improvement plan submittal to Great
River Energy. The CIP plan was due May 1st, but ERMU staff was not informed until
April 29th. The goal is to have the data collected and input into the GRE tracking system
by May 15th
• Planning an event focused on low-income educational tools for reducing energy bills
through efficiency and how other local agency services can help make a difference in
their lives. Vendors expected to attend are CenterPoint Energy, ERMU, Community
Education, Tri-Cap, Hennepin County, Wright County, and Sherburne County. The
event will be May 13th from 2 to 6 at Lions Park.
!POWERED BY
r$ Page 1 of 1 NATURE
Reliable Public
Power Provider P O W E R E D To S .
106
