i <br /> Elk River <br /> Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> TO: FROM: <br /> Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Eric Volk-Water Superintendent <br /> John Dietz—Chair <br /> Al Nadeau—Vice Chair <br /> Daryl Thompson—Trustee <br /> MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br /> May 12, 2015 6.1e <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Staff Update <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> • Delivered four new residential water meters <br /> • Sealed the water meter and took curb stop ties from four water services. <br /> • Went on 14 Service calls <br /> • Delivered 4 rain barrels <br /> • Completed 25 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples; all confirmed negative for <br /> Coliform Bacteria. <br /> • Completed 20 routine fluoride samples. All samples met MDH standards. <br /> • The Gary Street water tower interior painting project went out for quotes. I'll provide an <br /> update at the meeting. <br /> • We washed and filled the Johnson Street water tower on April 14. The tower passed all <br /> bacteria tests and was put back into service on May 20. <br /> • Dave Ninow, our new Water Operator, started on May 1. He's a great addition to the <br /> crew and we're very happy to have him. <br /> • We had some communication problems with Gary Street tower talking to Well#4. With <br /> the help of the line department, we were able to locate the fault in the wire and correct the <br /> problem. <br /> • We hosted a Minnesota Rural Water Association (MRWA) one-day water school at Lions <br /> Park. The school was attended by 50 water operators from around the area. We will be <br /> hosting the school again on April 20, 2016. <br /> • Preventative maintenance for our VFDs and our cooling units has been completed by Elk <br /> River Heating. This helps to ensure we don't overheat during our busy summer months. <br /> • We visited with Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services (AE2S) and Short <br /> Elliott Hendrickson(SEH) about optimizing our filtration process.
