Elk River
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Tom Sagstetter- Conservation and Key Accounts
John Dietz—Chair Manager
Al Nadeau—Vice Chair
Daryl Thompson—Trustee
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
May 12th, 2015 4.0
SUBJECT:
Vision Committee- 100th Anniversary Planning Update
DISCUSSION:
• The 100th Anniversary logo has been finalized. The committee decided to go with a
simple clean design that can be easily implemented into our existing applications. The
tag line also ties in nicely with the title of our History Report we're having published this
year "a century of service—a future of growth. " The logo design is attached.
• The event has been scheduled for Thursday, August 27th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
• At this time the meal is being researched. We have looked at a number of options
including pulled pork with sides, and hotdogs and brats with sides. We will have a two
hour window for serving the actual meal and will have additional snacking items in
addition to the meal. The snacks that are being looked at are; popcorn, snow cones, and
cotton candy.
• The initial plan was to have the event in the area by the power plant. For safety, space,
and parking challenges we are looking at other options. At this time the Sherburne
County Fair Grounds is the best option.
• ERMU staff will provide tours of the diesel power plant and are working on a shuttle
service to take participants to the power plant and water facilities. The water facilities
will be highlighted on the drive to, or from, the power plant, but guests will not be going
inside the water tower or filter buildings.
• The band Skitzofonik has been booked. They are band that plays a good mix of classic
and new music. They are also able to play some of your favorite country tunes. The
have two lead singers (one man and one woman)which will provide a wider range of
diverse music and songs. The cost for the band, stage, and preparation is roughly$2,300.
• Community Education will be attending and will be bringing entertainment for the kids.
The entertainment will include two bouncy houses and up to 6 skill games that kids and
adults can play if they like.
• We are working with local businesses to sponsor different portions of this community
celebration.
POWERED B Y
:yl Page 1 of 1 NATURE
Reliable Public
Power Provider P OWERED T o S ERVE
54
