Request for Action
River
To Item Number
Arena Commission 8.4
Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by
Action Items April 21,2015 Rich Czech
Item Description Reviewed by
Rink Camera System Update Cal Portner, City Administrator
Reviewed by
Action Requested
None / Update
Background/Discussion
Last summer, there was discussion about the possibility of installing cameras over the Olympic rink to be
use as a coaching tool as well as for public viewing through the city's cable channel.
The possibilities have ranged from installing our own cameras and editing our own film to purchasing an
automatic system that will do the majority of the editing for us.
Last August,we meet with Total Sports Entertainment Network (TSEN) who presented to some of the
Arena Commissioners and staff a web-based system in which coaches, parents, and other customers
could upload footage from several cameras over the rink of games that they could select through a kiosk
placed in the lobby.
After researching the system further,it was found that TSEN was going to install two of their systems in
the Super Rink in Blaine on a trial bases. According to the Super Rink Manager the trial with TSEN fell
through and they are now working with a new company called Live Barn.
I will follow their progress throughout the summer.
Financial Impact
N/A
Attachments
• N/A
PONEOEO er
Template Updated 4/14 If1ATUREI
1
