Some residents also requested a trail connection from <br /> their subdivision to the Great Northern Trail on 2215`Avenue become a priority as referenced in the draft <br /> Park Master Plan. City Council members requested that the discussion about 2215`Avenue be added to a <br /> future work session. <br /> At the March 11, 2015, Parks and Recreation Commission Work Session, the Commission reviewed <br /> options for a trail placement and parking near the intersection of the Great Northern Trail. <br /> The Commission also discussed various trail connections and requested staff contact property owners <br /> that would be affected to see if they would be willing to work with the city. Staff mailed five letters and <br /> spoke with three property owners who are not interested. <br /> At the April 8 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting, the Commission recommended the following: <br /> 1. Denial of installing a trail from the Great Northern Trail to the Ridges of Rice Lake development <br /> for the following reasons: <br /> a. A majority of affected property owners are not interested. <br /> b. Poor cost/benefit estimate. <br /> c. The trail is identified as a low priority in the draft Parks and Recreation Master Plan. <br /> 2. Recommend the installation of"No Parking" signs around the intersection of the 221st Avenue <br /> and the Great Northern Trail utilizing a nearby street for parking. <br /> Financial Impact <br /> Cost estimates for the trail construction, including acquisition of 20-feet of right-of-way, ranged from <br /> $172,000 to $212,000. <br /> Attachments <br /> ■ Map showing proposed trails on 2215`Avenue <br /> p 0 W I R I I a <br /> ATURE <br />
