• CITY OF ELK RIVER <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 80-34, <br /> A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE <br /> EXECUTION OF A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH <br /> THE STATE OF MINNESOTA FOR 50% OF COST <br /> OF MODIFICATIONS TO ORONO DAM TO ALLOW FOR <br /> FUTURE PROVISION OF HYDRO ELECTRIC DEVELOPMENT <br /> WHEREAS, The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the United States <br /> Army Corps of Engineers have classified the Lake Orono Dam a high <br /> hazars structure, and have required that the City of Elk River take <br /> positive actions to remedy such hazard; and, <br /> WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Elk River has deemed that the repair <br /> of the Lake Orono Dam is in the best interest of the citizens of the <br /> City of Elk River; and, <br /> WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Elk River has deemed that modifications <br /> in the May 5th, 1980 contract with Acton Construction Company, Inc. to <br /> provide for future hydro electric development are in the best interests <br /> of the citizens of Elk River; and, <br /> WHEREAS, The State of Minnesota has encouraged the City of Elk River to make <br /> • modifications in the Orono Dam to provide for future hydro electric <br /> development. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk River that <br /> the Mayor and City Administrator be empowered to enter into a grant <br /> agreement with the State of Minnesota, which will provide for 50% <br /> State funding and 50% local funding for modifications to the Orono Dam <br /> to provide for future hydro electric development. <br /> ADOPTED this 20th day of October, 1980. <br /> Mayor <br /> ATTEST: <br /> City Adm istrato <br />
