Elk River
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Eric Volk-Water Superintendent
John Dietz—Chair
Al Nadeau—Vice Chair
Daryl Thompson—Trustee
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
April 14, 2015 6.1e
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
DISCUSSION:
• Delivered one new residential water meter.
• Sealed the water meter and took curb stop ties from seven water services.
• Went on 16 Service calls.
• Completed 25 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples; all confirmed negative for Coliform
Bacteria.
• Completed 20 routine fluoride samples. All samples met MDH standards.
• All of our winter well rehab projects are complete. We are gearing up for hydrant flushing
and annual hydrant maintenance.
• The Gary Street interior painting bid will be sent out within the next couple weeks.
• Sprint has completed the 2.5 upgrades on all three water towers.
• We have completed the updates to our GIS system. Public Works printed out a very nice
vinyl map for us to hang in our office. The process of updating our maps will continue
throughout the year. As we find things that are incorrect, we'll make notes for the annual
revisions.
• With the warmer weather coming we'll begin exercising the gate valves that are located
within the street project areas.
• The operators have been very busy since we've been down one person. We had a string of
bad luck with a couple of booster pumps going bad. In addition,we've had some
communication problems between Well#4 and the Gary Street Tower.
• It took a considerable amount of time getting Well#2 tuned back in after the reconditioning.
Since everything is running so much better, we had to readjust all of our chemical levels.
• Attended the Minnesota Department of Health Metro District Water Operators School March
31 through April 1 in Bloomington,MN. The education report is attached.
ATTACHMENTS:
• March Pumping By Well
• Eric Volk Education Report
C.q P 0 W E D E D D 1
Page 1 of 1 NATURE
Reliable Public
Power Provider P O W E R E D T 0 S E 0.V E
157
