i
Elk River ---
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Theresa Slominski—Finance and Office Manager
John Dietz—Chair
Al Nadeau—Vice Chair
Daryl Thompson—Trustee
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
April 14, 2015 6.1b
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
DISCUSSION:
Troy Adams, Jennie Nelson, and I travelled to Mandan,ND and met with the management at
NISC to bring forth our concerns with the software working properly in a multi-service arena,
and recruiting future municipalities with the same needs. We met with the President, the Vice
President of Utility and Shared Services, the Accounting Team Lead, the Customer Billing Team
Lead, the Customer Billing Implementation Manager, a Production Manager, and two
individuals that were present via conferencing(a Sales Representative and a Production
Manager). We were encouraged by their desire to listen and their feedback on their commitment
to respond to our concerns, not only to meet our immediate needs but also so they are better
positioned to meet the needs of multi-service municipals in the future. They are planning an on-
site meeting here in May for working with Service Orders and have also offered to have an
accounting individual here to work with interfund transfers. The true test will be in the follow-up
that occurs to see if their actions match their words.
There were a large number of applications received for the CSR position we advertised for;
interviews will be scheduled soon. There were over 30 applications received for the Purchasing
Specialist and we will be scheduling interviews for the week of April 20th.
We received a notice from the State Pay Equity office and they are requesting some additional
information regarding our new job positions and changed job positions since 2012. This needs to
be provided by April 24th, at which time they will review it before issuing a compliance ruling.
If you recall, they requested similar information when we filed last time, so I'm hopeful this is
just a formality and not a cause for concern.
There are some reports due to the Department of Energy in the next few months and with the
audit complete, that will be the focus.
POWERED DY
Page 1 of 1 NATURE
Reliable Public
Power Provider P O W E R E D T o S F R Y E
142
