APPENDIX E <br /> RESOLUTION 79-14 <br /> • <br /> RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE SOURCE OF <br /> AND COMMITTING LOCAL FUNDS FOR THE <br /> REPAIR OF THE LAKE ORONO DAM <br /> WHEREAS, The United States Army Corps of Engineers and the Minnesota State <br /> Department of Natural Resources has found that the Lake Orono Dam <br /> is a hazardous structure posing a threat to the health, safety and <br /> welfare of Elk River residents; and, <br /> WHEREAS, The Elk River City Council has found that it is in the best interest <br /> of the City of Elk River to repair the dam rather than to remove the <br /> dam; and, <br /> WHEREAS, The Minnesota State Legislature has appropriated up to $344,000 for <br /> use by the City of Elk River in the repair of the Lake Orono Dam; and, <br /> WHEREAS, The Department of Housing and Urban Development has invited the City <br /> of Elk River for full application for a $225,000 Imminent Threat grant <br /> through the HUD small cities program which is reasonable insurance <br /> that the City of Elk River shall obtain such funding; and, <br /> IIIII WHEREAS, The Elk River Municipal Utility and the homeowners living on Lake <br /> Orono have voluntarily agreed to assume the burden of an assessment <br /> for local costs incurred in the repair of the Lake Orono Dam. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Elk River City Council that upon receipt <br /> of state and federal funds that the remaining local share of approxi- <br /> mately $231,500 be funded as follows: <br /> Special assessments to benefiting properties $ 155,000.00 <br /> City of Elk River General Obligation Bonds 76,500.00 <br /> Adopted this cr+ day of July, 1979, by the Elk River City Council. <br /> ::::--)— <br /> t�,. �44; <br /> T� <br /> ?`rank)i n Madsen, Mayor <br /> ATTEST: <br /> Robert C.
