*Item 3.4.*

MEMORANDUM

TO: Mayor and City Council

FROM: Joan Schmidt, City Clerk

DATE: May I 7, 2004

SUBJECT: Resolution Designating Polling Places

The City of Elk River is divided into four wards and eight precincts. The current site for
Ward 4, Precinct 4A - Lincoln School, is located on the west side of Highway 169 with most
of the residential area on the east side of Highway 169. Pastor Percy Kallevig of Twin Lakes
Christian Assemblies of God Church, which is located at 18912 Twin Lakes Road NW, has
offered the use of his church as a polling place. The location of this church is in a growing
residential area, the church is handicapped accessible, there is ample parking, and it is located
within the boundaries of Ward 4, Precinct 4A.

I am suggesting that Council consider designating Twin Lakes Christian Assemblies of God
Church as the polling place for Ward 4, Precinct 4A to replace the current site of Lincoln
School. I feel that this location would be more convenient for the voters in that precinct.

ACTION REOUESTED

To make a motion to adopt a resolution designating polling places for the City of Elk River.
This resolution includes Twin Lakes Christian Assemblies of God Church.
