October 16, 1990 RECEI Vki OCT 1 71990 <br /> • TO: Elk River Park and Recreation Commission <br /> • <br /> Barb Northway <br /> : November meeting - job description <br /> I will be unable to attend the November meeting due to a conference in San Antonio. <br /> My ideas for the park and recreation position are very general but it is a beginning from <br /> which more specifics can be developed. <br /> Below are some ideas for the park and recreation job description: <br /> 1) Responsible for administering and supervising a well-rounded program of recreational <br /> activities for the citizens of Eik River. <br /> 2) Responsible for care and maintenance of city-owned park properties. <br /> 3) Comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices and administration of park and <br /> recreation programs. <br /> 4) Confers with Community Education Director to coordinate leisure activities and <br /> resolves possible conflicts between school and city sponsored programs. <br /> 5) Serves as staff liason to Park and Recreation Commission and attends their meetings. <br /> 6) Plans and executes park acquisition and development per the Park Master Plan. <br /> 7) Knowledge of playing facilities, rules and equipment needs for various recreational <br /> activities. <br /> 8) Keep records, make reports, program evaluations, make recommendations which may <br /> improve the economy, efficiency and quality of the recreation program. <br /> 9) Handle complaints and inquiries concerning the park and recreation program. <br /> 10) Promote, organize and supervise a wide range of programs for youth, adults and <br /> senior citizens. <br /> 11) Advisor / liason to sports associations <br /> 12) Advisor / liason to civic and service organizations • <br /> 13) Coordinate scheduling for city-owned park facilities <br /> 14) Promote and organize special events for the people of Elk River, such as: <br /> -Fishing Contests -Ice Skating Contest -Fitness Fun Run/Walk <br /> -Community Festival Events -Kiddie Parade <br /> 15) Hire and train part time personnel as programs expand <br /> • <br />
