MEMORANDUM
L[yof
lk E Iiver
TO: Park and Recreation Commission
FROM: Phil Hals, Street/Park Supt.
DATE: November 12, 1997
SUBJECT: Agenda Memo
9. ERYAC Update
The complex development is moving forward at a good pace and I look
forward to playable fields by mid May of 1998. I will have handouts
for the meeting regarding the construction budget and the overview of
the total project.
10. Winter Park Usage Discussion
a. Ice Rink Update - The hockey boards have been removed from
•
Lion's Park and the City council has approved funds to build one
set of movable boards for Lion's Park. The second set of boards
for an unnamed site east of Highway 169 were not approved. It
is our goal to have the boards built and installed by early
December with skateable ice by Christmas break.
The City Council also approved the purchase of a cab, rotary
broom, and snowblower as attachments for our John Deere
tractor so that we can provide better quality ice on city rinks.
Besides the ice at Handke pit and Lion's Park, we plan to flood
neighborhood rinks at Barrington, Deerfield IV, and
Moldenhauer parks.
B. Handke Pit Warming House - I believe the portable office trailer
for a warming house at Handke was a success last year and I
would recommend that we offer that facility again this year.
C. Woodland Trails Park Ski Trails - As we approach the ski
season, I would like to bring forward some concerns that I have
heard from local users of Woodland Trails Park for your
discussion.
•
13065 Orono Parkway • P.O.
