<br />Request for Action <br /> <br /> <br />To Item Number <br /> <br />Mayor and City Council 4.8 <br />Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br /> <br />ConsentMarch 2, 2015Jeremy Barnhart, Deputy Director, CODD <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />Hire Economic Development Director Cal Portner, City Administrator <br />Reviewed by <br />Lauren Wipper, Human Resource Representative <br /> <br />Action Requested <br /> <br />Approve, by motion, the hiring of Amanda Othoudt for the position of economic development director. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br /> <br />Ms. Othoudt has been the City of Becker’s community development coordinator since August of 2012, <br />focusing mostly on economic development. In that time she has worked to fill their industrial park and <br />vacant industrial buildings through ongoing, active communication with the business community. Prior <br />to Becker, Ms. Othoudt worked in private sector development, with demonstrated experience with <br />marketing, site selections, etc. <br /> <br />Her references described her aggressive pursuit of state and federal grants, as Becker does not use TIF <br />financing and her positive influence on the business/government relationship. <br /> <br />Ms. Othoudt will begin work on March 23, 2015, with her pay starting at step A, pay grade 12. Pending <br />successful performance, she will be eligible for a step increase in 6 months. Ms. Othoudt will accrue <br />vacation at the rate of 15 days per year. <br /> <br />Financial Impact <br /> <br />This is a budgeted position <br /> <br />Attachments <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />
