p-L/
Item# 7.c.
:,y of MEMORANDUM
F1kRiver TO: Park and Recreation Commission
FROM: Stephen Wensman, Planning Intern tit.)
DATE: May 13, 1998
SUBJECT: Trott Brook Trail Corridor
Description
The Trott Brook Farms subdivision is proposing a park corridor along Trott
Brook. It appears that a corridor is feasible to a point about 300 feet beyond
the north edge of Outlot F of the proposed subdivision. From that point and
to the north, the feasibility of continuing the trail is unclear. Beyond that
point there is wetland around the Brook and farm ditches that extend
Eastward. If a connection could be made around the wetland, a trail could
possibly follow the powerline easement to County Road 13. However, the
• easement crosses existing residential lots. It appears that the continuation of
the trail Northward is dependent on future subdivisions, the extent of the
wetlands, and the use of the powerline easement.
It may be possible to connect the Trott Brook trail to Hillside 5th Addition
Park and to 197th Avenue, and to Deerfield Park.
Another short trail along the existing ditch could connect the Trott Brook
trail to Outlot F. The banks of the ditch appear to be dry enough and are
easily walked.
Site Issues
• Wetlands
• Private property
• Utility easements
• Future subdivisions
Attachments
• Eastern Area Proposed Trails and Parks
•
\\elkriver\sys\shrdoc\planning\stevewen\trotmmo.doc
13065 Orono Parkway • P.O.
