Elk River ---1
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Eric Volk- Water Superintendent
John Dietz—Chair
Al Nadeau—Vice Chair
Daryl Thompson—Trustee
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
January 13, 2015 6.1e
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
DISCUSSION:
• Delivered 3 new residential water meters and 1 new meter for 365 Evans Apartments.
• Sealed the water meter and took curb stop ties from 7 water services.
• Turned on 4 water services and 2 electric services.
• Went on 4 Service calls.
• Completed 25 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples; one sample tested positive for
Total coliform/E. Coli. We followed the resample protocol set forth by the MDH and all
resamples tested negative for Total coliform/E. Coli.
• Completed 20 routine fluoride samples. All samples met MDH standards.
• The motor control center(MCC) and the variable frequency drive (VFD) for Well#3
have been installed and started up.
• Mike Langer and Pete Neilsen have been working hard to complete their annual well
maintenance; Well#6 has already been completed. The operators are working on getting
Well#2 ready for the painters who are scheduled to come in to sandblast, then paint the
filter and all of the pipes. The process is very similar to painting a water tower. First the
filter and pipes are sandblasted, primed, and finished with two coats of paint. The new
paint should last at least another twenty years.
• Angela Hauge has completed gathering the points for the new valves and hydrants that
were installed this past year. As far as we're aware, 100%of the points for the valves and
hydrants have been collected and sent to Bolton&Menk for addition to our online GPS
mapping system. Angela added 67 valves and 36 hydrants to the database.
• Angela Hauge has continued to work with the CSRs to check and validate any
discrepancies within the billing system.
ATTACHMENT:
• December Pumping By Well
PVDEDED D1
NATURE
Page 1 of 1 WI
Reliable Public
Power Provider P O W E R E D To S E 0.V E
135
