Elk River <br />Municipal Utilities <br />UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission <br />Eric Volk - Water Superintendent <br />John Dietz — Chair <br />Al Nadeau — Vice Chair <br />Daryl Thompson — Trustee <br />MEETING DATE: <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />October 21, 2014 <br />6.1e <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />DISCUSSION: <br />• Delivered 13 new residential water meters. <br />• Sealed the water meter and took curb stop ties from 7 water services. <br />• Turned on 3 water services and 1 electric service. <br />• Turned off 3 water services and 1 electric service. <br />• Went on 9 Service calls. <br />• Completed 25 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples; all confirmed negative for <br />Coliform Bacteria. <br />• Completed 20 routine fluoride samples. All samples met MDH standards. <br />• 280 fire hydrants have had maintenance performed on them so far this summer. <br />• One Way Building Services has completed the Verizon Wireless antenna installation. The <br />punch list items have been taken care of and they are ready for the final inspection. We're <br />getting close to starting on the Sprint 2.5 upgrade on the Auburn, Freeport, and Johnson <br />Street towers. <br />• We've been working with our control company to improve our SCADA system <br />dependability. <br />• The water department finished fire hydrant maintenance for the season. In total they <br />performed maintenance on 200 public fire hydrants and 130 private hydrants. With Mike <br />Langer's lead, we've started repairing all of the hydrants and gate valve risers that have <br />been identified to need repairs. <br />• Pete Neilsen has completed 723, of the over 800 missing curbstop ties, that are missing <br />from our curbstop ties catalog. <br />• Angela Hauge has been working on getting coordinates for the missing gate valves and <br />fire hydrants into our GIS mapping system, once complete she'll begin working on the <br />maps that are missing in the mapping system. <br />• The water department excavated and repaired a damaged fire hydrant isolation valve. We <br />had the part on hand and we used our own equipment to excavate the valve.
